This morning I weighed in at 180. That's 6 pounds in one day, so I think I lost about 5.5 in water. I did start the morning out with breakfast at Denny's along Alice and Serenity. I ordered the Boca burger without cheese and opted for fruit instead of french fries (very hard for me to do) and passed the bun to Alice. I would say that had about 110 for the patty and 120 for the fruit. I'm probably overestimating that, but better to be safe.
Wile dining, I also had the pleasure of listening to two of the most misinformed gentlemen I have ever heard in my life. They were mostly talking about weight loss and exercise, but I was able to listen (they were not exactly quiet) to their odd political beliefs on food stamps and immigration, and how the one thought the movie "The Matrix" is one of the greatest philosophical movies of our time. Seriously, they were very misinformed. Quotes such as, "Fat is evenly spread over your body; you're not going to to have abs showing and have fat somewhere else." Truth is that men will generally gain weight around their abdomen while women gain in their hips and butt.
Another was same guy saying, "If you have high cholesterol, it's not because of what you're eating. It's because your body's producing it that high," he says as he spreads butter on his scrambled eggs. "I only eat at In-N'-Out maybe 2 times a week, without the spread. Only mustard and ketchup. And my cholesterol is still over 200," he dips his bacon in the ketchup. "I'll eat maybe 2 of them 'cause they're tiny things, but so good."
Your liver secretes cholesterol, but his burger still has 27 grams of fat and 60 milligrams of cholesterol. Multiply that by 2, 2 times a week. That'll get the LDL up their if eaten in conjunction of a Grand Slam breakfast.
The other guy then started saying how he knows a guy with high cholesterol, but has a sister with low cholesterol and he didn't think that was possible since they were brother and sister.
Women are protected by estrogen. This female hormone raises HDL (good cholesterol) and reduces chances of heart attacks. After menopause, however, estrogen levels lower and they become more susceptible to higher LDL (bad cholesterol) and greater risk of hear attacks. Then their was time spent talking about how their fat daughters needed to go on the horrible Atkin's diet; how newspaper journalists only report what advertising PR reps tell them to, and how they stopped reading because the radio and broadcast media got it to them faster and was more focused (I don't think my cousin's wife to be/newspaper journalist would feel the same); and on how we are so lazy by making robots to take care of us (forgive the MIT, Stanford, CIT and other engineering students for trying to make a robot that will give our fat asses an other chance at life by making heart surgeries safer and more effective) that we are just leading ourselves to doom once the machines rise up and breed us only for energy until Keanu Reeves saves us. Everybody thank Mr. Reeves.
I'm not going to claim to be an authority on diet studies or health, but I think this is some basic knowledge that people should take the time to understand. Until last year, the U.S. was leading the world in obesity at 25% of the population being considered obese and was recently knocked down by Australia at 26%. Just goes to show you that this is becoming a global concern as our jobs and cost of living leaves us with choosing low-priced fast food without thinking about what's going into our body. This is probably why I like the "Slow Food Nation" movement that Stone Brewing Co. is promoting at their World Bistro. Organic foods that take a little time and effort to prepare. I love beer (in moderation).
The rest of the day was a 310 calorie Subway veggie delight, 110 calorie baked lay's and more poor man's Ramen at 390, 3 servings of corn nuts.
Calories: 1460
Fat: 46
Carbohydrates: Probably under 333 grams. Maybe even under 200.
I'm going running again. Last night I made it about a mile before I puked. It's been 3 months since the last time I ran.
