Amber Ale

I Started an Amber Ale tonight. I promised my girlfriend's sister that I would brew her her very own batch. So I went the easy way and did extract.
4 lbs extra pale dry malt extract
4 oz corn sugar
4 oz Crystal 40 (steeping grain)
4 oz Special B (steeping grain).
5 gallons water
1 tsp Irish moss

I steeped the grains in 1 gallon of water at 155 deg F for 30 minutes then added to the boil.

1 oz Kent Golding hops for 60 minute boil

White Labs WLP039 Nottingham Ale English yeast pitched at 80 deg F.

I came out with about 3.6 gallons and an SG of 1.055.
I expect the FG to be about 1.014.

Work Sucks

I haven't been posting at all. I haven't really been dieting at all either. Nor have I been running. I pretty much fell off after school started. I'm in class from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and I work from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m.. I have to wake up at 5:30 a.m. to drive my girlfriend to work and drop off her daughter at her grand parents so her grand-pa can take her to school at 8. I then drive back home and arrive at about 7:30. I have to leave by 8 to drive the 14 miles of traffic that takes an hour. I have no time for anything. I still weigh 174 pounds.

I'm out of control. I ate onion rings, 3 servings of chips and 2 servings of Ballast Point wheat ale. I love beer, but I need to find a better diet off a low income.

Still...

Still running and eating Top Ramen for every meal. I did get a slice of Greek-style pizza yesterday at the trolley station downtown. I'm down to 176 pounds. That's all pretty much. My mile time is down to around 7 minutes, too.

Day 7

Day 7 was a failure. I started the Monday morning out with large onion rings from the BK lounge after getting off work and jogging 2 miles. I went to sleep and woke up at about 1 p.m.; picked up my Alice (my girlfriend) from work, dropped her off at home; went to get a veggie burrito without rice, cheese, guac or sour cream; went to work, ate a small bag of 240 cal chips, 5 slices of cheese, English muffin and a cookie (no egg). I think I had about 3000 calories. To top it off, I didn't do my stretches or anything. I just went strait to sleep. I do, however, weigh 177.

Day 4

After work, I weighed in, fully clothed (shoes and all), at 181. That's probably going to be 2.5 less for shoes, 1 for jeans; .5 for shirt, socks and undies. I don't know if I want to run tonight. It's already 1 a.m.. I don't like that idea too much.
I did eat 2 packages of ramen today; 1 banana, baked lays, regular lays, 1 cup of grapes. That would probably be around 1600 calories for today, 40 g fat... why do I love potato products so much? I think french fries have to be the best food ever.
